Design that carries
Branding and web design for craft-driven and heritage-minded work. View work →
Work made with care deserves the same in return.
Uncommon Loon Design Co. works with people who build, grow, make, and steward places with care.
This is work that’s often done quietly — but deserves to be recognized and remembered. My goal is to make that happen through branding and web design that’s thoughtful, grounded in your values, and made to remember.
A design studio inspired by the loon’s unmistakable presence — a voice that carries and stays with you.
why the loon
Loons are known for their call — clear, distinct, and immediately recognizable across the water.
The loon call sticks with you. Their traits guide how I design:
Clarity — Your message cuts cleanly through the noise.
Precision — Every detail is intentional and crafted with care.
Honesty — No fluff, no jargon. Just clear communication.
Presence — A visual identity people recognize instantly.
Northern Roots — Inspired by wild landscapes, hardworking people, and the craft-centered culture of the North.
This studio exists to support people who take pride in how things are made — builders, growers, craftspeople, and others doing hard work that holds communities together.
Your work already has strength.
Your story deserves to be heard.
Your brand should carry it.

Uncommon Loon Design Co. works with craft-driven, land-based, and heritage-minded businesses — people who build, grow, make, steward, or preserve things with care.
If your work is hands-on, place-based, or shaped by skilled labor and material knowledge, we’re likely a good fit.
-
No — but the work should value craft and how things are made.
I work best with businesses where craft, land, history, or process are central to what they do. That includes builders, growers and makers, but also creatives, educators, conservation groups, and small businesses grounded in place.

Not at all. Most clients don’t. We’ll start with a conversation, look closely at your work, and figure out what level of support actually makes sense.
-
Most branding packages take between 4-8 weeks, depending on scope. Website projects take longer. I prefer to work at a thoughtful pace — fast enough to move forward, slow enough to do it right.

It depends on your needs. My go-to is Squarespace for clients who want to keep their website up to date themselves. I am a Squarespace Gold Circle Member, which offers discounts and expertise.
If you have specific needs that go beyond what Squarespace offers, I am happy to guide you toward the best fit.

That work lives under my sister studio, Shannon Magrane Design.
If your organization focuses on campaigns, policy, organizing, or advocacy, I’ll point you there so you get the right approach and expertise.
If you’re not sure where you fit, that’s okay. I’ll guide you in the right direction.

→ Start with a short inquiry. Tell me about your work, where you’re stuck, and what you’re hoping for.
From there, we’ll see if it’s a good fit — and take it step by step.

Brand package pricing starts at $1,200. I also offer custom packages for clients that don’t need a full package, or would like some add-ons. I do offer payment plans. Every project starts with a down payment of 25%-50%. Depending on the project timeline, the rest will be split up along the way or due at final asset delivery. Get in touch for a custom quote!
