About Uncommon Loon Design Co.
Uncommon Loon Design Co. is a branding and web design studio working with craft-driven, land-based, and heritage-minded businesses.
Founded and run by Shannon Magrane with occasional help from a team of creatives, we focus on work shaped by hands, skill and heritage. Our goal is to support your hard work with a brand that feels steady, useful and true.
Committed to the craft
The ApproachI approach design by paying close attention.
My background is in art, psychology, and education. That means I think a lot about how people understand things, how systems hold together, and how small choices add up.
In practice, I listen first. I learn how the work actually functions. Then I design brand systems that feel intuitive and usable.
Why the loon?
The loon is easy to recognize. You hear it, and you know exactly what it is. That idea stuck with me.
I help businesses build brands that feel clear and memorable. Not by trying to stand out in every moment, but by being consistently authentic and well-made.
Uncommon doesn’t mean flashy. It means distinct.
What to expectIf we work together, you can expect:
Clear, direct communication
A thoughtful pace
Respect for your expertise
Design that feels solid and usable
No jargon. No judgment. Just careful work.
More about the founder
Hi! I’m Shannon, the designer behind Uncommon Loon Design Co. This work means something to me.
I grew up around people who worked with their hands.
My parents were skilled laborers — a florist and a field technician. I watched them show up early, work carefully, and take pride in doing things right, even when no one was watching.
That shaped how I see work. Skill matters. Care matters. Details matter.
After years working in more tech-based design roles, I realized I wanted to use my skills differently — to support people who build, grow, craft, fix, and restore. The ones doing essential work that doesn’t always get recognized.
Design is my trade.
I use it to support yours.
